The Huntsville Community Choir - About

Enriching our community with joyful music & performances since 1988.

About Our Choir

The Huntsville Community Choir, formed in 1989, is a non-profit Ontario charitable organization dedicated to bringing joy through music. Open to individuals of high school age and older, our SATB choir welcomes anyone who loves to sing and wishes to enhance their musical knowledge. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 pm at Trinity United Church, Huntsville.

The Huntsville Community Choir began as a community group in 1989 and became a registered non-profit Ontario charitable organization in 2003. With membership ranging from 35 to 70 singers, the choir embraces a wide variety of music, including sacred, secular, gospel, show tunes, Celtic, Irish, and annual Christmas concerts. We perform two to three concerts per season.

Our Director & Pianist

  • Louis Tusz – Music Director

Louis Tusz is the passionate and highly talented Director of the Huntsville Community Choir. He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where he studied voice with Peter Wall and Ginette Duplessis, and choral techniques with Deral Johnson. He began his teaching career at Huntsville High School in 1988, teaching instrumental and vocal music, as well as music recording techniques. With the support of Marion Haggart and the Muskoka Musical Arts Society, he started the Huntsville Community Choir in 1989, the same year he became the string bass player for the Trillium Dixie Jazz Band. In retirement, he continues to collaborate with other musicians and ensembles in a variety of musical styles including, most recently, conducting Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Whispering River Orchestra

  • Kristine Knight - Pianist

Kristine's lifelong passion for music began with early piano lessons, quickly achieving her Gr. 9 RCM. Moving to Huntsville at 12, she played various instruments in Huntsville High School bands. She met her husband in Huntsville and homeschooled their four children. Kristine trained at the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute and has taught Suzuki Piano since 2006 at Muskoka Music Centre. She has accompanied countless recitals for the Huntsville Suzuki School of Music and is active in her church's music ministry at Riverside Baptist. In 2007, she became the Huntsville Community Choir accompanist, working with Sherisse Stevens, Jillian McDougall, and Louis Tusz. After a brief hiatus, she returned in 2024 to work with Louis and the Choir again.
